Songs Based on Psalms

The Ends of the Earth Shall Hear (Psalm 22:27-31)
Lord, Thou Hast Been Our Dwelling Place (Psalm 90)
Call Jehova Thy Salvation (Psalm 91, paraphrased)
Come, Sound His Praise Abroad! (Psalm 95)
Before Jehova's Awful Throne (Psalm 100, paraphrased)
Modern language would probably change this title to "Before Jehova's Awsome Throne"
Bless O My Soul, the Living God (Psalm 103:1-7)
Oh Lord Thou Art My God and King (Psalm 145)

Based on other scriptures

Arm of the Lord Awake (Isaiah 51:9)
As When the Hebrew Prophet Raised (John 3:14-17)
Behold the Glories of the Lamb (Revelation 5:6-12)
(Thought to be the first English language hymn intended specifically for public worship. )

Other Hymns

Awake, Awake! (A Fanny Crosby)
Songleaders, attention! Next time you hear the words "let's have another song to let you stretch your legs," here's the song to do!   (Yes, I know, if we are only singing to stretch our legs we might as well just do a few verses of '99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall,' but with this song we can say something spiritual and get our blood pumping at the same time.
Begin My Tongue, Some Heavenly Thing  (Isaac Watts)
Blessing and Honor and Glory and Power
Blessed Redeemer (another Fanny Crosby)
Christ is Made the Sure Foundation
Christ Returneth Here's a good one for around the Feast of Trumpets.
Come Unto Me You Weary
Conquering Now and Still to Conquer
Fanny Crosby again, this time on a horse. <smile>
But there is an important message in this song for all of us
Glory Be to God the Father
The Bible Stands (a good teaching song for the children)
Come Thou Conquerer of the Nations
A John Wesley song, inspired by the Book of Revelation, a frequent source of inspiration for his songs.
